MESSAGE FROM RAM JETHMALANI
We of the old generation have come to the end of our mortal journey and have little of
stake left in the world. But it is our duty to warn and advise "you" the youth. You are to inherit this
earth and you owe to yourselves to make it as near to paradise as possible. We do not propose to catalogue all
the ills afflicting us but only to focus on one, one which is more deadly than terrorism, that currently threatens
the survival of civilized society. Believe it or not it is AIDS. For we have the means to end terrorism but we
have no cure for AIDS once it gets lodged in our bodies. Fortunately we know how to prevent its initial invasion
but this too is of no avail unless the knowledge is shared by all and there is the will to use it. The youth of
the world can transcend the geographical, political and racial wars that divide our sorry world. You can reach
out to one another wherever you happen to be and you can educate one another about what can be done to win the
war against AIDS. Make no mistake, we already are at war and our casualties have already run into several millions.
In anguish we ask "are you listening"? To tell us that you are really listening, I suggested that you
get interested in the "Hope and Beyond" Student Service-Learning Project, HIV/AIDS Prevention and Testing
Project. It is worthy of your immediate attention. I believe it serves the purposes that I have already indicated
as worthy of your participation and furtherance. The Project provides an opportunity for youth to join the war
against AIDS.
